Arts and Crabs
During the Stay At Home order, I decided to pursue some new hobbies in an attempt to help relieve stress and also channel my inner creativity. What my son used to call, “Arts and Crabs.”
My first venture was into modern calligraphy. I bought a book and special pens. I always see all the cool lettering on the blackboard at Starbucks. How hard could it be? Apparently really hard. Turns out I am awful at lettering. After a few attempts, I gave up.
My next attempt was making paper flowers. Initially, trying to cut all the tiny patterns was like slow and painful torture. I just wanted to be done with one flower and move on. But the longer I worked at it, the more I enjoyed seeing the final product bloom. Surprisingly, I ended up finding paper flower making really enjoyable.
So here’s to discovering new hobbies, and to the joy of Arts and Crafts.
