Night Blindness

Serving the public has offered me the rare opportunity to meet and interact with people from all walks of life.  One of my favorite parts of my job has been making connections and forming relationships with my patients over the last twenty years in private practice.  I have had the privilege of watching my young patients grow into adults, celebrated when they have gotten married and started families, rooted for patients as they fought illnesses, and mourned when they have suffered loss or passed on.

I have met so many people I may never have otherwise known.  And I have come to the conclusion that there are still so many honest, hardworking people in the world.  In fact, the majority of the folks I come into contact with day in and day out are decent and kind.  Obviously, we read every day on the news about horrible events.  And without a doubt, there is plenty of evil and bad around us.  But I feel like my lenses get shaded by all the darkness I hear and read about.  And it is easy to let that darkness blind me to all the light in the world.
