Swear Jar
I have a potty mouth. It started out as just a silent curse word in my own head. After all, a well timed expletive can be very gratifying when angry. Over the years, the foul language that once resided only in my thoughts has slowly made an appearance into my speech.
For years, I have been extremely careful to never use inappropriate language in front of my kids. Lately, I have caught myself muttering profanities in front of them. Bad habits are like that... once you start, you become desensitized to it. What was once unacceptable becomes no big deal.

As motivation, I have put my money where my mouth is. Every time the kids catch me saying a curse word, I owe them 30 minutes of Roblox gaming time (downloading Roblox is currently my biggest regret of 2020). A virtual swear jar.
Last night both kids were literally hooting and dancing in glee because they “earned” 60 minutes of gaming time...
