Sorting Socks

Sorting laundry used to be simple. Everyone’s things were obvious based on the size and color of clothing items. All the teeny little boy clothes in one pile. One stack of pink and colorful little girl clothes. My things, basically all black pants and white tops. And all the other adult sized items belonged to the husband.

These days sorting laundry takes more effort. All our clothes are starting to look about the same size. The Girl’s pants look just like mine. The Boy’s socks keep accidentally ending up in Hubby’s drawers. And everyone’s garments are the same colors!

It’s like sorting laundry is evidence of the kids growing up. A tangible reminder of the passing of time. It makes my heart hurt a little, because I really miss those baby socks.
