Unplug to Recharge
I accidentally left my iPhone at home the other day. I didn’t discover it was missing until I got to work. I felt all panicky. I was literally twitchy and uncomfortable, like a drug user going through withdrawals.
I didn’t realize how dependent I’ve become on my cell phone, filling my downtime texting or surfing the internet. Once I got over my separation anxiety, I got so much done at the office! All my piles of optometry journals I always mean to look at, but never get around to actually reading. All the papers in my To Do box that I procrastinate doing. Misplacing my iPhone was like the best thing ever.
I lecture my kids all the time about why they shouldn’t squander all their time playing Roblox or watching YouTube videos. I realize that the same applies to me. I am going to make an effort this year to unplug more and put away my phone when I don’t need it. I’m going to unplug my phone and recharge my soul.
