Ying and Yang

When my daughter was born, my brother in law bought her a potted daffodil. It bloomed and then eventually withered. I was about to throw away the plant when Hubs protested and insisted on planting it in the soil outside. I must admit, I was highly skeptical the seemingly dead flower would thrive in our yard.

Season after season he would patiently water the bare stalk and dormant bulbs, despite seeing no flowers. Finally, a few years ago, we started seeing beautiful yellow flowers bloom.

When I see our cheerful daffodils beaming in our front yard, I remember why I married my husband. I am all about efficiency, practicality, and taking care of the big picture. He is what I am not: sentimental, patient, willing to tend to minute details. Together, we have the potential to clash. Yet at the same time, our differences have the potential to perfectly complement each other and make us more complete.
