20/20 Vision
I am always baffled and confused when I encounter patients that ask me to purposely undercorrect their prescription and make them blurry for their distance vision. I had a patient come in the other day and tell me she doesn't like seeing too clearly and prefers to be a little out of focus.
It's hard for me to understand why someone would intentionally choose not to have crisp, clear, perfect vision. Perhaps there is a life metaphor is this. That we often choose not to see the world around us with open eyes and clear vision. That it's sometimes easier to be a little myopic and allow all the flaws of life to remain fuzzy and out of sight.
Personally, I want to see every detail that this life has to offer me. I want to see the world in high definition, including all of its imperfections and blemishes. I want 20/20 vision.
