Hiring Horrors
I am currently screening and interviewing applicants for help for my front office. And I have been shocked at some of the applicants I have encountered. I have accumulated a few tips for those seeking employment.
1) Show up on time for your interview.
Better yet, SHOW UP. I have had multiple applicants stand me up for their alloted interview time without even a phone call. No, being 10 minutes late is not ok. No, you will not get the job.
2) Dress appropriately.
If you are trying to demonstrate that you are responsible, professional, and reliable, show up to your interview dressed tidy and professional.
A tube top is not considered tidy and professional.
3) Use complete sentences and proper grammar and spelling when emailing your potential employer. Proofread your resume for typos.
Sending a message that says, “i wnt part time tho” does not inspire confidence. Nor does a resume that says “faking medical records,” instead of “FAXing medical records.”
4) Don’t bad mouth your former employer or former coworkers.
It’s just bad form. If you are leaving a prior job that was unpleasant or filled with politics and drama, simply say it was a toxic environment. I don’t need all the dirty details.
5) If you are offered the position, have the decency to respond with an accept or decline.
It’s not cool to ghost the person that just offered you a job. It’s rude. And a little offensive.
6) You never get a second chance to make a first impression!
